"We were approached by the store early this year who were impressed by our sustainable and pesticide-free farm as well as the fact we use 70% less water than traditional farming methods," the Clapham-based company said.

The retailer's food product development team have created four different salad mixes from the range of micro herbs: a British Mix, Italian Mix, Indian Mix and a Japanese Mix.

The boxes "will hopefully roll out to further stores at a later date", Growing Underground added.

It has been growing micro-greens and salad leaves hydroponically under LED lighting year-round in nearly 2km of wartime tunnels leased from Transport for London since 2015.
