Neudorff launches fridge-free nematodes

At Glee at NEC Birmingham on 11-13 September Neudorff is making the worldwide launch of a revolutionary nematode system to tackle vine weevil.

The range of nematode treatments for tackling leatherjackets, chafer grubs and vine weevils that do not require refrigeration and have a shelf life of six months.
In addition there will be a new and more powerful Sluggo product - Sluggo Ultra and new dosing bottles for the concentrated weedkiller range.

Neudorff sales director, Jude Beharall said the nematode product "is a totally unique offering for garden centres, adding: "Our wide range of products has proved to be viable natural alternatives for tackling weeds and pests and providing nutrients to plants, vegetables and lawns. The range is ideal for consumers looking to garden in harmony with nature rather than against it."

The product works through Cryptobiosis, an ametabolic state of life entered by an organism. The nematodes are suspended in a formula that keeps them in a suspended non-moving state and maintains the correct moisture level for survival. The encapsulated nematodes are protected from bacterial contamination.

Conventional nematodes needed refrigeration to slow down movement.
