Roundstone performance to December 2016 "satisfactory" say directors

West Sussex-based bedding grower Roundstone, part of the Newey group, has reported increased turnover, but lower profits.

Roundstone Nurseries' sales rose slightly to £19.81m (£18.63m) and operating profit fell to £323,000 from £873,000 in the year to 31 December 2016.

The directors said the performance was "satisfactory in difficult trading conditions".

Sister companies New Place Nurseries, New Forest Plants and Young Plants also filed accounts.

Director Alex Newey said last week a "planned group convergence" was underway at the Newey Group.

Newey bought Roundstone in autumn 2014. He said sales at the £40m turnover group were up about 5% this year.
